It’s a habit that’s hard to shake, when you have a free moment and you know where the boats will be at a given time.
Slipping down to the old Hotel Majestic site and getting down on to the platform below it, you are as close as you can get if you have a halfway decent camera and lens pair.
This time it was the turn of the H28’s who really provided the show as they were almost inseparable for the first few marks and to see them joined at the hip as they went down the breeze to Bartlett under kites. But it wasn’t too hard to include the other fleets as they moved past me, but they were busy doing their thing and at least this time it wasn’t the howling gale that had existed over the last few days.
I was happy to record Good Act tempting fate as they got as close to the bar under Applecross Spit. They tacked off in time, but if they hadn’t, it would have been the best photograph for a while. I must say that the old fox in charge of Cover Drive has bought a new spinnaker in his usual colours; it just seems to be larger than the last one. Very impressive indeed.
A video is under preparation and will be passed onto the club in due course.
