There is nothing like a challenge and in order to help the Twilight Fleet com up with something new, Sailing Captain Victoria and Vice Sailing Captain Wendy asked us to come up with a “Wheel of Fortune”.
Along with lots of helpful hints on “how to build a wheel of fortune” from Google, we simply took the best ideas, found the right bits and pieces and proceeded under Ken Baxter’s guidance to put the wheel together with a meeting with Stu from the Label Factory, who was to put the final touches to the wheel.
And it works… if you do Twilights, you may have already spun the wheel!
The rest of the time has been spent on resurfacing bar table tops, big and small; information plaques for the Archives department and the patient restoration of a yacht’s bow (which you will learn more about shortly).
One important thing that is done before the start of opening day is to get the kerbs painted and we had a lucky break in late September/early October where we could throw the paint around. Lots of fun for everyone! The the stainless steel on the start boat had to be given a bit of a sparkle, consider it done. All before opening day.
The Skiffs are undergoing a bit of maintenance at the moment, as the trips to various clubs have left a few scrapes on the hull. Just has to be taken care of.
Have a merry and safe festive season.
