We had another beautiful day and weather conditions on Saturday for the Graeme Hood Memorial Trophy Time Trial. We had 22 boats out on the water across 2 fleets following course 413.
Prior to the results for the Graeme Hood Memoria Trophy, we presented the flags and the Pelican Trophy from last week’s time trial as this was also incorporated with State Heat #5 with Ophelia and Lailah Beck presenting the flags and Pelican Trophy to the winners.
CLUB RESULTS FOR PELICAN TROPHY:
1st Place and Trophy Winners – The Dolphin – Jason Claricoates and Caroline James
2nd Place – The Pickeld Tickle – Mark Hayman and Kim Huraszko
3rd Place – Thanet – Guy Skinner and Fiona Lyons
Graeme’s Family where in the bar to present the memorial trophy and Matthew reminded us of the importance of getting things checked if something doesn’t feel right, especially when it comes to your health. Graeme passed away of Bowel cancer, and Matthew did remind us of the love and involvement Graeme had for the club, and how he was quite close to Conor Nicholas who is currently competing in the Olympics along with fellow member and teammate Nia Jerwood. John and Lynne Cooper on Purrfect took out the Graeme Hood Memorial Trophy with least points lost and a score of just 5 points lost over the course.
PORT FLEET RESULTS:
3rd Place – M & M’s – Michael Cook and Justine Barron
2nd Place – Out on Business – Darryl Wilkes and Mary Vukovich
1st Place and Trophy Winners – Purrfect – John Cooper and Lynne Cooper
STARBOARD FLEET RESULTS:
3rd Place – Coffee Point Marine (Foxy Lady III) – Doug Smith and Alan Wilson
2nd Place – Illusion – Ian Staples and Kerry Staples
1st Place – Stillwater – Justin Taylor and Helen Taylor
We had 2 nominations for the Bent Prop award this week, with the Wilson Marine Voucher and Bent Prop going to Guy Skinner on Thanet for forgetting to change the start time on his computer for todays time trial. Middle of the fleet went to Graeme Mackay and John Spanos on Taj with a score of 27 points, and the Wooden Spoon went to Rodney Greville-Collins and Aldo Dentamaro on Sovereign with a score of 153 points lost.
Next week we have the State Heat #6 out of Royal Perth Yacht club. Registrations can still be made if you wish to nominate for the event. Good luck to our teams and competitors.
