This year marks 60 years since Ray first joined the South of Perth Yacht club in 1964. Marlene Carter who usually presents the trophy in memory of her father is away overseas at the moment but did send her regards and luck to all competitors competing.

The cold and damp weather conditions did not dampen the spirts of the 18 boats who were competing out on the water. The conditions may have hindered some more than others, including Jason on The Dolphin, who was making his way back to the pen only to forget where his pen/jetty was as ended up on Jetty 7 instead of Jetty 6. This won him the Bent Prop award for the week.

Congratulations Dalusional with Commodore Troy Dalglish and Dee Kelly for winning the Ray D. Carter Trophy with least points around the course (6 points lost). Dalusional won the trophy last year as well.

In the port fleet, we had Wolfpack (Morrie Stevens and Tom Armstrong) taking out 1st place with 10 points lost, Lifestyle (Jeremy Greaves and Iva Gayagoy) taking out 2nd place with 12 points lost and Rhapsody (Phil Edwards and Cedric Daniels) taking out 3rd place with 14 points lost.

In the starboard fleet we had Detour (David Markham and Chris Pearson) taking out 1st place with 9 points lost, The Pickled Tickle (Mark Hayman and Kim Muraszko) taking out 2nd place with 12 points lost and 3rd place going to Purrfect (John Cooper and Lynne Cooper).

Middle of the fleet went to M & M’s (Michael Cook and Maria Cook) and the wooden spoon this week went to Sovereign (Rodney Greville-Collins and Aldo Dentamaro).

Next week is State Heat #5 which we are hosting. The state heat team as chosen by the section is Dalusional, The Dolphin, Lone Star, M & M’s and Thanet.
