Skipper’s Briefing
There will be a quick and short session for Keelboat Skippers to learn more about changes to the summer sailing season held in the Wardroom following Midweek results presentations on Wednesday 15th September. This session will include information on the most significant change being the Crew Sign-On procedure and SailPass via the Memberpoint App. Skippers are encouraged to attend.
Crew Sign On
The biggest change to this coming season is the introduction of the Sail Pass system around the country. At SoPYC and many other yacht clubs, Memberpoint App will be used to register Sail Pass members as well as signing on crew to Keelboat races.
During the month of September it is recommended to test out and familiarize yourself with the App. The login details to access the App are the same as the login details required for the Members Portal on the Club’s website. If you are still unsure of your login details, the username is your 4-digit member number and your password is the day and month of your date of birth i.e. DDMM or it may be your member account ALPHA CODE (case sensitive). If you still have no luck please call Reception during working hours Monday to Friday.
Please click here for the Crew Sign On instructions.
SailPass
Being introduced this season Australia-wide is the new SailPass system where non-members can sail for free before being required to take out one of the Club’s membership subscriptions. Non-members can download the same Memberpoint App and obtain a SailPass at no cost for up to 15 race days. Once the Sail Pass holder has registered, their name will appear in the App for skippers to sign them on their boat.
Please click here for the Sail Pass instructions.
Midweek Racing
Just as a general bit of advice, following the start and when the RPYC boats are charging down towards Foam Buoy for the first time, do try to keep well clear of that area otherwise your pleasant afternoon sail could turn into a real demolition derby. We want to avoid ugly scenes like this, so after rounding Sampson Spit, pass Foam Buoy (55) to starboard and stay safe.
Alright, that’s it. Let’s roll! Hey, let’s be careful out there.
Notice to Competitors
Please keep checking here for important race information for both Keelboats and Off The Beach Boats.

EQUIPMENT AUDIT FORMS
Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 3, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.
YACHT TRACKERS
The ability to replay club fleet races is now available. Try the free Yacht Bot tracking software yourself. It can be downloaded and installed on your smartphone or tablet via an App. If you interested and don’t mind taking your electronic device with you on the water, please let us know. Past races can be viewed using the button below.
