Saturday was the Power Section’s night of nights with over 70 members and guests attending to another fun, well-organised and decorated Prize Night. It was a night to celebrate the achievements of the 2024 season and present the Club Championship 400 number and the 401 for Consistency.

Our MC for the night Vice Commodore Amanda Watson welcomed guests in and after a toast to absent friends welcomed Commodore Brian Cross to give his welcome speech. His speech went through some history on the club’s time-trialling and some fun facts from previous years. He also presented the new Captain (Jason Claricoates) and Vice-Captain (Robin Wilcockson) of the Section with their epaulettes.

This event also marked the end of Outgoing Power Captain Maria Cook’s term. She has done an incredible job as Captain for the Section, and in her speech thanked everyone including her committee, section sponsors and competitors. New section Captain Jason presented Maria with a certificate and gift to commemorate her time as Captain and thank her for her service with a standing ovation. Her hard work, dedication, legacy and achievements will not be forgotten and continued within the section.

It then came down to the results end of the night with Starter Margaret Cooper and Commodore Brian Cross announcing and presenting the season trophies. The 400 numbers and the Club Championship went to IPC Troy Dalglish and Dee Kelly on Dalusional and the 401 numbers for Consistency went to John and Lynne Cooper on Purrfect. Congratulations to all winners and competitors throughout the season for their results.

A big thank you goes out to Judy Bailey for her decorations throughout the Wardroom and for the handmade versions of each boat’s numbers on the windows throughout the wardroom and the pennants on each table. The balloon lined staircase was a fun entry way to what was a great night enjoyed by all.

Our last event for the year is the annual Jetty 6 party from 6pm on Saturday 30th November 2024.   BYO everything, decorate your boat with festive lights (there is a prize for the best dressed boat), come along and be prepared to dance the night away in the jetty to the live band.  All members of the club are welcome.
