The Archives and Publications groups are collating suitable panorama images depicting “Life at SoPYC” for display and decoration in various parts of the Centreboard and Main Clubhouses, following recent roof maintenance.
Have you taken a special image you would like to submit for consideration for display? What we want is the pure essence of the river around the club. Surprise us with what you have taken.

The intention is to build a library of images that we can:

  1. Use to provide a selection of images to choose from when decorating the club into the future.
  2. Offer to Marketing/Publications to use for Soundings and Coffee Pointers (Yes, you will be recognised as the photographer)
  3. Provide a background for the archives department to understand the growth of the area over the last 70 years.

If these images can be sent in a smaller size to . Image size preferred up to an MB. That way you can send half a dozen or so without overloading the system. We can then request certain images from you.

These are the requirements:

  • The horizon must be level.
  • The file should be separate and not embedded in Word or as a PDF.
  • Adobe RGB is preferred.
  • Black and White photography is fine.
  • Size does matter. The end results will be used on fairly large-scale prints, therefore a minimum size (in JPEG) for colour is at least 8 MB with B & W images at least 6 MB.
  • We are happy to work in JPEGs and will consider TIFFS, BMP or PNG on the proviso that the files are proportionally larger.

There is no age limit to either the age of the photographer and or the image, in fact older photographs of the club and its locale would be welcome on the proviso that they are not copies of old photographs.
